The fiscal year 2027 budget for Newton County is set in place after Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting. The board voted 4-1 to approve a budget of general fund balance of $113.8 million, which is approximately $5.2 million more from last year. This number was determined following an estimated 4% tax digest growth. Also, the board anticipates the same millage rate at 8.567 mills.
